ABOUT OUR BROTHERHOOD

Welcoming you to the Knight’s of the Precious Blood

The Apostolate is a brotherhood of Croatian Knight’s dedicated to making a positive impact in society, a Croatian laymen’s apostolate born within the Croatian Catholic parishes in Sydney Australia. All the good works we undertake are informed by our three core pillars (God, family, homeland) in conjunction with the 7 Spiritual Works of Mercy and the 7 Corporal Works of Mercy.

History:

The Knights of the Precious Blood were established in 2014 as a response to the contemporary challenges faced by the local Croatian community and the world at large. The aim is to form men in the catholic faith and virtues. The formed Knights would become faithful witnesses of Christ in their families and their community, striving to be good men and fathers, carrying out their mission in the church and society.

Mission:

Our mission is to love God and serve Him alone. The main focus of the brotherhood is to grow the Kingdom of Christ here on earth. The spiritual growth of its members and the living out of the Knightly virtues, for the greater Glory of God and to the benefit of His holy church. In addition it aims to form new members for the brotherhood in accordance with the authentic teaching of the Catholic Church, to be good Christians and responsible men in their chosen vocation’s as husbands, fathers and brothers.

Precious Blood:

The Precious Blood of our Lord is the charism of the brotherhood, which unites and fortifies Croatian men prepared to engage in spiritual battles for the highest truths professed by the Catholic church. This mission stems from our trust in Jesus Christ and the protection of His Most Precious Blood through his Immaculate Mother, Mary.

“You know that you were redeemed from the vain manner of life handed down from your fathers, not with perishable things as silver or gold but with the Precious Blood of Christ as the Lamb without blemish and without spot.” – 1 Pet 1:18-19

KNIGHT’S SHIELD

Our Shield and Our Strength

Shortly after the Knights of the Precious Blood were formed in 2015, the group’s logo was designed and confirmed by the founding members. The logo was intended to embody the charism and chivalric code of the Knights, combining fidelity to Christ with Croatian heritage.

The founding members all agreed that the Knight’s logo should include a shield in the colours of the Croatian shield (grb), with the Cross of Our Lord as the centerpiece of the shield. This was to emphasize the belief that the Holy Cross is our shield and our victory. Our Lord shed his Most Precious Blood on the Cross for us and it is the Most Precious Blood that we call upon daily for our protection. The rays emanating from the Cross represent the glorious victory over death that was won by our Lord on the Cross. This glory of the Cross, the victory of the Blood of the Lamb, is our Shield and our Strength.

Our Patron Saints

Our Queen

As Catholic men of Croatian descent we have a special connection with Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin, Mother Mary. She is affectionately known and reverentially acclaimed by the Croats as “Rajsko Djevo Kraljice Hrvata” (Queen of Heaven and Queen of the Croats).

St. Maximilian Kolbe

St. Maximilian lived in dark times and died in a very dark place, yet wherever he went he radiated the light of God’s love and mercy. His life teaches us to entrust ourselves to our loving Mother, Mary Immaculate, and through her, to bring both our souls and the souls of others to the happiness of union with God.

St. Joseph

In 1687 the Croatian parliament (Sabor) officially declared St Joseph as the patron saint of Croatia. That this consecration also applies to the entire Croatian people was confirmed by the Croatian bishops in 1972 at a session in Split.

Bl Alojzije Stepinac

In the history of the Croatian people, faith, family and nation have always been inseparably woven together like the Croatian pleter, forming the backbone of our identity. Few embodied this truth more courageously than Blessed Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac, whose unwavering fidelity to Christ and His Church stood as a beacon of hope in times of trial.

St. Michael

St. Michael is one of the principal angels; his name was the war-cry of the holy & good angels in the battle fought in heaven against the enemy and his followers.

OUR MEN’S APOSTOLATE

What We Do

Men’s Gatherings

Hosting monthly men’s gathertings aimed at bringing like minded men together to develop friendships and grow in their Catholic faith. So together we can create a positive impact in our families and society.

Men’s Conferences

Organise and run annual catholic men’s conferences. Which bring together like-minded men for a powerful and inspiring weekend with powerful guest speakers, engaging small group discussions, meaningful brotherhood with spiritual guidance.

Men’s Rosary Crusade

The Knight’s initiated the first men’s rosary crusade in Sydney back in 2021 which has spread to 13 locations around Australia.

Sacred Heart & Immaculate Heart Devotions

Knight’s have actively promoted the devotions through organising Sacred Heart crusades and first Saturday devotion amongst the men and wider community.

Fundraising

The Knights of the Precious Blood are involved in projects around the globe, with a particular focus on the people of Croatia. By providing direct aid to those in need.
